Nevada has made a strong commitment to renewable energy. Our state legislature has enacted an enhanced Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard intended to increase our use of clean, renewable energy. This is good news for all Nevadans since renewable energy reduces our need for fossil and nuclear fuels. Through a program available from Nevada Power, Southern Nevadans can apply for a rebate to help offset the cost of a photovoltaic solar energy system. The program is called SolarGenerations and the details can be found at www.solargenerations.com. We suggest that you read through the various pages on the SolarGenerations web site to get an understanding of what the program is all about. If you think solar energy is for you (and we certainly hope that is the case), we suggest using their Contractor's List to find a qualified local company that can assist you in registering for the program. Note: This program has limited capacity and has become increasingly popular. You must be a Nevada Power or Sierra Pacific Power customer to qualify. There is no guarantee that submitting an application will result in a rebate. There is also a long lead time between submitting an application, getting it approved and then installing the system. It is administered on a first come, first served basis. Please contact a solar professional or the folks at Solar Generations for more details. There is a list of approved solar installers and consultants on the Solar Generations web site. |
