Solar Tower Renewable Energy System

Solar NV Banner 400Chris Davey from Australian company EnviroMission will discuss Solar Tower technology and the company's plans to create massive amounts of clean solar energy in Australia.

Their first project will focus on developing the revolutionary technology into the world's first large-scale solar thermal power station capable of generating enough electricity to supply 200,000 typical Australian homes.

2007 Energy Symposium @ UNLV

For educators, students, policy makers, all energy & environmental professionals and citizens

Solar Trough

This inaugural event is dedicated to showcasing the renewable/sustainable energy projects of UNLV faculty, staff, students, and collaborators, as well as other external projects underway statewide and nationally. The development and utilization of new technologies to protect the environment, achieve energy independence, and strengthen the economy will be explored. Speakers and poster-session presenters will provide further insight to many ongoing projects and innovative research ideas. 

Organized by UNLV's Office of Strategic Energy Programs, the event offers participants the opportunity to learn about energy projects and will encourage networking and collaboration. This symposium is intended for researchers, educators, students, policy makers, public and private-sector energy and environmental professionals, and citizens.

Dates: August 15, 16, and 17, 2007

Times: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. August 15 and 16
8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. August 17 - Solargenix Tour

Location: The Stan Fulton Building on the UNLV campus. The Fulton Building is located on the corner of Flamingo Road and Swenson Street.

Reception: Aug. 15. Begins at 5 p.m. for all dinner participants. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. Cost is $25/pp, $10/ea for currently enrolled students. Location: The Stan Fulton Building.

Optional Tour: Solargenix facility tour on Aug. 17. Shuttle bus will depart at 8:30 a.m. Location: TBA
