One- Solar Thermal Power Plant |
Wednesday, July 18, 6 PM |
| Solar NV's July meeting will feature a presentation by Nicholas Potrivitza form Solargenix. Mr. Potrivitza will provide information on Nevada Solar One, the 64 megawatt (MW) solar thermal power plant near Boulder City.
Our meetings are open to the public so please join us and feel free to invite your friends. Our programs provide information on renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Solar NV meets once per month, every third Wednesday at 6 PM, at the Nevada Power building at 6226 West Sahara Avenue in the Wengert Room, at the rear of the main building. Our meetings are a great place to network with others who share an interest in renewable energy. Meet designers, installers and just plain folks who are living with the sun....and using it to their advantage! More details, directions and maps. |

Solar Today : Renewable Energy: Economic Powerhouse? |

According to new research, the number of U.S. jobs created as a result of rapid growth in the renewable energy and energy-efficiency (RE/EE) field as of 2006 is estimated to exceed 450,000. The vast majority of these positions were employed in private industry. What does this new source of jobs and tax-base growth signal for the U.S. and state economies, especially in regions having ready, skilled labor pools?
The answers to such questions are of vital interest to the educators and workforce trainers, policy makers, regulators and urban planners charged with responding to projected growth in this industry. Yet despite widespread interest in the size of the renewable energy industry, its potential economic impacts and the number of jobs involved, a comprehensive study of this industry has never been conducted — until now.
